BALLARD, BETTY RUTH LEBLANC

Betty Ruth LeBlanc Ballard 79 of Baton Rouge died Friday, January 7, 2011 at 
2:11 pm.  She was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge and was a retired hair 
dresser.  She dedicated many hours to civic organizations and charitable 
institutions.  She loved to paint, boating, and gardening, especially roses.  
She never met a stranger and always had ready for someone.  She believed that 
you should smile at those you meet and never worry about the response.  She 
had the ability to show God's love towards others and loved talking to others, 
not just for conversation, but because she really wanted to know about 
others.  If asked what was important in life, she might have said “exercising 
love and kindness, having moral character and “being sweet” to everyone you 
meet is the way life is meant to be.”  She was born January 28, 1931.

Visitation was held at Greenoaks Funeral Home in on Friday, January 14, 2011 
from 5 pm to 9 pm and resumed on Saturday, January 15, 2010 from 9 am until 
the religious services at noon.  

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, a son and daughter-in-law, 
six grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, a sister and brother-in-law, a 
brother and two sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her husband of sixty-six years, Bernell Ballard 
Sr.; her parents, Telasmar and Felicie Cavalier LeBlanc; two brothers, Clement 
Anthony LeBlanc and Michael LeBlanc; and a son-in-law, Martin “Bubba” Vidrine.
