Helen Ballard 
 
A resident of Holden, Helen Hood Ballard passed away Sunday, April 3, 2011, at 
Lakeview Regional Hospital, Covington. 

She was 85 and a native of Beckville, Texas. Visitation was at Seale Funeral 
Home, Livingston, Tuesday and Wednesday until a funeral service in the chapel, 
conducted by the Rev. Barry Stanley. Burial was in Courtney Cemetery, Holden. 

She is survived by her daughter, a son, two sisters, two brothers, nine 
grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Duncan Smith Sr.; second 
husband, Ivy Courtney; third husband, Matthew Ballard; son, Duncan H. Smith 
Jr.; parents, Roy and Willie Mae Hood Sr.; and sisters, Sue Jubonville, 
Georgia Efferson and Dorothy and Alta Hood.
