"Bill" Beach ended his 12-year battle with Parkinson's disease at his home in Oretta on Wednesday, May 6, 2009. Bill was born in Arrow Rock, MO, on May 6, 1938, to Wilbur and Virginia Beach. He was honorably discharged as a military policeman from the U.S. Army. He moved to Louisiana in 1968 and lived in Oretta for the past 30 years. He was area supervisor for Asplundh Tree Co. in Baton Rouge. He owned and operated his own business, Beach Contractors Inc., for 35 years before retiring. He was a consummate hobbyist, which over the years included woodworking, ham radios, photography, fishing and boating, and especially restoring old cars. Visitation was held from 9 am until the service at 11 am at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy on Saturday, May 9, 2009. Following his cremation, a memorial service was held at 11 am. Survivors include his loving wife, two sons and a daughter-in-law, a daughter, a stepson and a stepdaughter-in-law, a brother and a sister-in-law, three beautiful granddaughters and a grandson-in-law, five grandsons, a very special nephew and his wife, and his two parrots, Paco and Giggles. Preceding him in death were his parents, Wilbur and Virginia Beach; and Floyd and Lilly Ballew (Mom and Pop); a son Donald; and a brother, Gerald. He was preceded in death by his parents, and Floyd and Lily Ballew (Mom and Pop); son, Donald; and brother, Gerald.
