She was born May 12, 1924 in Pride, and retired from the Livingston Parish Clerk of Court after serving the public for 33 years. After retiring, she spent her days traveling, shopping, and enjoyed raising her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she referred to as her "heart". She was a loving and nurturing mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Visitation and funeral services were held at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home in Baptist on Wednesday April 1, 2009 with interment in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Albany. She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, a son and daughter-in- law, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a sister,; and three brothers. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Boyd Sr.; parents, Perry and Inez Cowart; sister, Lorena Schanil; and three brothers, Joseph, Wilton and Ellis Cowart.
