Louis Carlton “Arkansas” Brantley Sr., 88 of Baker died at 8:50 am on Monday, October 4, 2010 at Northridge Retirement Home in Baker. He was a retired welder with Exxon and former resident of Port Allen. He was a native of Arkansas and a former longtime member and usher at Holy Family Catholic Church. He was also a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs. A private service was held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, October 5, 2010. He was survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, two sons and daughters-in- law, two sisters, nine grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his wife of 35 years, Hazel Truxillo Brantley; his parents, Thomas F. Sr., and Anna H. Brantley; four sisters, Thelma Lee Griffin, Willie Edna Butler, Mary Lee Ruffino and Margurite Bandy; and four brothers, Walter “Bon” Brantley, Ralph Brantley, Edmond Brantley and Thomas Brantley. Arrangements were provided by Wilbert Funeral Home of Port Allen. Memorial donations were requested to be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or Sister Emma Noel's Ministries of Lafayette, LA.
