A proud husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, "Red" was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman and World War II veteran. He was born, raised and lived in French Settlement and was a longtime member of VFW Post 3693 in Gonzales. "Red" was a retired boilermaker and member of Local 542. Visitation was at St. Joseph Catholic Church Hall, French Settlement, on Monday May 25, 2009 and Tuesday May 25, 2009 until Catholic Mass. Burial followed in St. Williams Cemetery in Port Vincent He is survived by his wife of 62 years, four daughters and three sons-in-law, a son and daughter-in-law, eight grandsons and five granddaughters-in-law, four granddaughters and three grandsons-in-law, 12 great-grandsons, four great- granddaughters, two brothers and a sister-in-law, a special niece her and husband, and close family friends and their daughters and family. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cheryl; mother and father, Vincent and Mamie Brown; brothers, Melvin Brown and his son Buster, and Leon Brown; and sister, Hazel and her husband Clifford Matherne.
