Buck was born in Lucedale, MS and served six years in the Mississippi National Guard. After an apprenticeship at Ingalls Shipyard he became a boilermaker and then owned and managed various fabrication shops. After leaning nearly every aspect of his trade he went on to become one of the most respected senior welding inspectors in his profession. Project managers and engineers called on him long after projects were completed for advice, and he always laughed and wondered, “what they would do without a good redneck>” A memorial service was held at French Settlement Baptist Church on Friday, Feb 12, 2010, and resumed at his home after the service. An additional service was held at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Lucedale MS on Monday, Feb 15, 2010. His wife, the sons and daughters-in-law, two daughters and sons-in-law, 11 grandchildren, his mother, a half brother and his family, and a half sister and her family survive him.
