He was retired from the US Government, Alabama Pipe fitters Local and Alabama School Board. He was a native of Vicksburg, MS and a veteran of the US Army Air Forces, having served during World War II and received the Bronze Star. He was a member of Greenwell Springs Baptist Church, a former Boy Scouts of America Scoutmaster in Denham Springs, a member of Loop Masonic Lodge, Mobile, AL, and Abba Shriners Temple, Mobile, AL. He received his law degree Jackson, MS Law School and was a teacher in the Vo- Tech School System in Mobile AL with further education at Auburn University. Visitation was held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Florida Blvd., on Monday, Dec 21, 2009 with a Masonic Service. Visitation resumed on Tuesday, Dec 22, 2009 until the time of the service in the funeral home chapel with interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. His wife, two daughters and a son-in-law, a son and daughter-in-law, a sister, seven grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren survive him. Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Ollie Crichlow; and two sisters, Mary Helen Beckman and Polly Crichlow.
