He was 72, a resident of Central and a native of Slaughter. Visitation was at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, on Thursday and Friday until service in the chapel, conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Womack and the Rev. Jay Avance. Interment was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. He is survived by his wife, daughter and son-in-law, son and daughter-in-law, three sisters and two brothers-in-law, three granddaughters, grandson, and great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mayme Crochet; parents, Tamer Paxton and Norman J. Crochet Sr.; sister, Lydia Kay Crochet; brother, Clifton Nelson Crochet; and brother-in-law, the Rev. Gerald Hull. Norman was active in his church and community. He was a member of Greenwell Springs Baptist Church, and a 1980 graduate of New Orleans Theological Seminary. He was pastor of many churches in Mississippi and Louisiana and a former house parent for the Mississippi Baptist Children’s Village.
