DAVIS, ASHLEY PRESTON “JIM”

Ashley Preston “Jim” Davis 92 of Springfield died Saturday, December 25, 2010 
at Specialty Long Term Care Hospital in Hammond, LA.  He was born on August 
18, 1918 in Springfield.  He was a retired vice principal and educator at 
Springfield High School.  

Visitation was held at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home in Hammond on 
Tuesday, December 28, 2010 and resumed on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 until 
the service in the funeral home chapel followed by interment in Carter 
Cemetery in Springfield.

He was survived by a son and daughter-in-law, a daughter, three daughters and 
sons-in-law, a daughter-in-law, a sister, seven grandchildren, a granddaughter-
in-law, and three great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was his wife of 56 years, Gertrude Patterson Davis; a 
son, Ashley James Davis; his parents, Ashley Burns Davis and Noemie Gautreau 
Davis; and two sisters, Pearl Vernell Sanders and Sarah Lee Templet.
