He was born April 27, 1944 in Baton Rouge and was a 1962 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, where he played the French Horn in the school band and won first place in state competition. He was a former member of the LSU Marching Band and received his master’s of science in civil engineering from LSU. He was a veteran of the US Army. For many years he bowled on multiple leagues in the city. It was one of his favorite pastimes until his health declined and he was particularly proud of having bowled on a team with his father for several years. He had volunteered for years as a youth bowling coach. A memorial service was held at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church on Saturday, March 6, 2010. His wife, a son, his father, a brother and sister-in-law, two nieces, and an uncle survive him. Preceding him in death was his mother, Betty Denham; a sister, Bet Westlund; and an uncle Bertram Denham.
