She and her husband owned Dutch Cleaners in Gonzales for 45 years, along with owning Evans Cattle Farms. She was a graduate of LSU and an educator in Ascension Parish School System. She was a member of the American Legion Post 81, and Order of the Eastern Star 163. Visitation was held at Ascension Funeral Home, Gonzales on Monday with interment on Tuesday Sept 15, 2009 in Hope Haven Cemetery. Surviving her are a brother and sister-in-law, two sisters-in-law, a brother- in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews and other family and friends. Preceding her in death were her husband of 65 years, M. P. Evans, JR.; her parents, John Sullivan “Buddy” Walker, and Ruth Evelyn Chapman “Honey” Walker; two sisters, Sadie W. Castleberry and Johnnie Mae W. Bourgeois; and two brothers, John E. Walker and Lester Vic Walker.
