He was retired from Equitable Shipyard in Madisonville with 20 years of service and was a member of Blood River Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and most important of all spending time with his family. Visitation was held at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home in Baptist on Wednesday December 29, 2010 until the service conducted by the Rev Thomas McTaggert assisted by the Rev Charles Reitz followed by interment in Blood River Baptist Church Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, a daughter and son-in-law, a son, five grandchildren, a granddaughter-in-law, a great-grandchild, two brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was a son, Rexal Fletcher; three brothers, James, Huey and Homer Lee Fletcher; a sister, Evy Rogers, his parents, his parents, James and Francis Hoyt Fletcher.
