She was a native of Bayou Barbary and a longtime resident of Albany. Her family affectionately knew her as “Sukky”. She was a longtime member of James Chapel United Methodist Church in Holden. Visitation was at Harry McKneely Funeral Home in Ponchatoula and resumed the following day with a funeral service at James Chapel United Methodist Church in Holden with interment in James Chapel Cemetery. At the time she was survived by four daughters, Mrs. Eva Gordon, Mrs. Ollie Josephine McCarroll, Mrs. Marguerite “Maggie” Kinchen, and Mrs. Marie McAlister; three sons, Hillary Arthur Gordon, Walter Joseph Gordon, and Willie Frankie Gordon; a stepbrother, Joseph Monroe Redding of Gulfport, 39 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, Walter J. Gordon; her mother, Priscilla Watkins Redding; her father, Capt. Arthur Edward Redding of Gulfport; a sister and brother-in-law, Ollie Redding Guitreau; two brothers, James Edward Redding and Joseph Odom Redding; a stepbrother, Arthur Edward Redding Jr.; a grandson, Julius McCarroll; a former son-in-law, Martin James Bennett; and a daughter-in-law, Catherine Hutchinson Gordon.
