GUITRAU, ALPHONSE DONALD

Alphonse Donald Guitrau 84 of Lake died Monday Feb 1, 2010 after a battle with 
cancer.  He was born Aug 2, 1925 in French Settlement and was retired from 
Ormet.  Mr. Guitrau was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where he 
served as an usher for more than 30 years.  He was also a charter member of 
Father James Clement Knights of Columbus Council 6389 having served as Grand 
Knight for three terms, and had recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award 
from the council in horror of his many years of service to the community.  
Donald was one of the founding members of the St. Amant High School Booster 
Club.

Visitation was held at Sacred Heart Chapel in Lake on Thursday Feb 4, 2010 
from 9 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am.

Two sons and daughters-in-law, seven grandchildren and their spouses, 13 great-
grandchildren, two brothers, and two sisters survive him.

Preceding him in death was his wife of 63 years, Doris Moore Guitrau, whom he 
lovingly and devotedly cared for; his 103 year old mother, of whom he was 
caregiver and preceded in him in death earlier this year, Esta Decareaux 
Guitrau; his father, Alexander “Pete” Guitreau; and a brother, Raymond Guitrau.

The family offered thanks to St. Joseph Hospice and his caregivers, for their 
faithful care and friendship.  In lieu of flowers the family requested 
donations made to St. Joseph Hospice in Baton Rouge.
