He was a native of Livingston Parish. He served his country in the US Coast Guard during World War II. Visitation was held at Seale Funeral Home in Livingston on Monday, Nov 16, 2009 and at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Bayou Barbary on Tuesday, Nov 17, 2009 until the funeral service with interment in the church cemetery. Two daughters and a son-in-law, a son, nine grandchildren, and 20 great- grandchildren survive him. Preceding him in death was his wife, Pauline Croto Guitreau; a son, Victor Paul Guitreau; his parents, Vincent Marcellous Guitreau and Ollie Salette Redding Guitreau; three sisters, Julia Palmer, Bertha Salassi, and Elva Guitreau; and two brothers, Jessie Guitreau and Vincent “Singa” Guitreau.
