HOLMES, ELMER W. “BUCK”

"For God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten son that whosoever 
believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 

Elmer W. "Buck" Holmes, 73 of Denham Springs died Friday, May 1, 2009 at the 
Carpenter House in Baton Rouge.  He was a native of Tylertown MS and a retired 
IRS field agent.  He was a graduate of New Zion High School and Southeastern 
Louisiana University with a degree in accounting. He was a veteran of the U.S. 
Air Force. He served as a deacon at Hebron Baptist Church, treasurer of Denham 
Springs Camp of Gideons International, board member of Camp Living Waters and 
Family Resource Center, and ELBA treasurer. He was a 2009 PARDS Wall of Fame 
inductee, a member of the Denham Springs Kiwanis and Denham Springs Chamber of 
Commerce.

Visitation was held at Hebron Baptist Church in Denham Springs on Monday, May 
4, 2009 and resumed on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 until religious services with 
interment in Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery.

His wife, a daughter and son-in-law, two sons and a daughter-in-law, a sister, 
three granddaughters and a grandson-in-law, and a grandson survive him.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Jewell and Mary Lee Holmes; sister, 
Barbara Parker; brother, Wayne Holmes; and granddaughter, Danielle Blair 
Singletary. 

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Gideons International, P.O. Box 
1495, Denham Springs LA 70727-1495.
