HUTCHINSON, JEAN BARNETT

Jean Barnett Hutchinson 79 died at 8:45 pm Sunday, Nov 15, 2009 at her home in 
Denham Springs.  She was a native of Frost and a member of First United 
Methodist Church of Denham Springs. She was a member of the Louisiana and 
national Automobile Dealers Association.  She was the first woman automobile 
dealer in Louisiana and was a member of the Denham Springs Planning and Zoning 
Commission.  She served as president of the Denham Springs Pilot Club, 
treasurer of the Denham Springs Pilot club for more than 20 years and also 
treasurer of the Louisiana and Mississippi districts.  She served as governor 
of the Louisiana district in 1990.  She was Mentor of the year in 1995 and 
2001.  She initiated the Jean Hutchinson Patriotism award at the district 
level for the club having the most patriotic activities for the year.  She was 
also instrumental in forming the Pilot Club of Denham Springs.  She was also a 
member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Mystic Star Chapter 108, and editor 
and treasurer of the Edward Livingston Historical Association.

Visitation was held at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs on Tuesday, Nov 
17, 2009 and resumed on Wednesday Nov 18, 2009 in the funeral home chapel.  
Interment was in Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery.

Two daughters and a son-in-law, a son and daughter-in-law, five grandchildren, 
and eight great-grandchildren survive her.

Preceding her in death were her parents, V. W. “Bill” and Modest Wall Brignac; 
her first husband, Billie H. Barnett; and her second husband, Harry Cooper 
Hutchinson, Jr.
