She was a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Whitehall where she was born on June 8, 1921. She was a retired bus driver for Ascension and Livingston Parish Schools. She was also a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 3793. Visitation was held at Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales on Sunday Oct 18, 2009 and on Monday, Oct 19, 2009 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant until mass of Christian Burial with interment in Lake Cemetery. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, 13 grandchildren, 29 great- grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, two daughters-in-law, two brothers, and three sisters. Preceding her in death was her first husband, Ellis Smiley; her second husband Dallas Jones; two sons, Lionel “Buddy” and Larry “Jack” Smiley; her father, C.V. Richard, Sr.; her mother, Celestine Richard Penalber; a grandson, Elton “Ricky” Delatte; two great-grandchildren; four brothers and two sisters.
