He was an independent businessman who ran a bread delivery service for more than 22 years. He was a member of St. John's Men's Club, where he enjoyed cooking breakfast for all of his friends. Visitation was at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary on Friday Jan 23, 2009 with a rosary service and resumed on Saturday Jan 24, 2009 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Zachary from 9:30 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am with interment following in Azalea Rest Cemetery. His loving wife of 61 years, four daughters and three sons-in-law, three sons and two daughters-in-law, a sister, two sisters-in-law, 21 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren survives him. Preceding him in death were his parents, James Alonzo King and Mary Hodges King; sister, Rita King Chandler; three brothers, Shyrl, Stanley and Hugh King; and two brothers-in-law, Terrell Malone and Lea Chandler.
