A resident of Denham Springs, Julia Marie “Rita” Laborde died of Alzheimer’s 
disease at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Harvest Manor Nursing Home. 
She was 66 and a native of Independence. She enjoyed being with her family, 
singing in the church choir, crocheting and many other craft activities.

Visitation was at Lighthouse Baptist Church on Monday and Tuesday until 
religious service, conducted by Johnnie Stewart. Interment was in Natalbany 
Cemetery. 

She is survived by her husband, two daughters and a son-in-law, four 
grandchildren, a granddaughter-in-law, great-grandson, and a brother and 
sister-in-law. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Allie and Dallas Cooper; sister, 
Roselean Rainey; brother, Ray Cooper; and sister, Myrtis “Inez” McCarroll. 

In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made to cover her funeral 
expenses.
