She was 87 and a native of Head of Island. A Memorial Service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Baton Rouge. Mrs. LeBans loved crossword puzzles, dancing, and especially family gatherings. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law; her son and daughter-in-law; two sisters; two brothers; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, Francois Joseph and Alice Brignac DeBate; a daughter, Elma Louise LeBeau; grandsons, Brian and H. L. Smith; sisters, Elma D. Stringer, Alice D. Laiche, Beulah D. McCullough, and Mary Lena Matherne; brothers, Robert DeBate, Jesse DeBate, Freddie DeBate, Dennis Debate, Roosevelt DeBate, and Johnny DeBate.
