He was a native of Bordelonville and worked for Exxon Refinery for 30 years before retiring and moving his family to Pierre Part. At Exxon he started as an operator and rose to assistant supervisor. He was known as team builder and earned the nickname “WeWe” because he always said, “We can do anything”. His sons and many other young baseball players also knew him as “coach” during their school years. He enjoyed the outdoors, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren on his boat. He also found he had a talent for making rosaries and was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Pierre Part. He was a ham radio operator and member of the club in Morgan City and in Baton Rouge. Visitation was held at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Pierre Part on Saturday, Feb 13, 2010 from 10 am until Mass of Christian Burial at noon with interment in the mausoleum in Pierre Part along the Belle River, which he loved. Immediately following the graveside service all were invited back to the church community center for refreshments. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 49 years, his toy poodle “Annie”, a daughter and son-in-law, two sons and daughters-in-law, nine grandchildren, a sister, a younger brother, a very special cousin and her family, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
