With tearful eyes we watched you, as we saw you pass away. Although we loved you deeply, we could not make you stay. Your golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best." Floyd McDowell 89 passed away at 11:55 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Harvest Manor Nursing Home in Denham Springs. He was born July 1, 1919, in Walker to the union of Alonzo and Nola McDowell. He was married to the love of his life, Margueriete Sibley McDowell for 62 years. He was an active member of the Friendship Benefit Center, specializing in cooking jambalaya, until his health failed. He was always willing to go the extra mile for his family, friends and community, and was completely dedicated to helping others in need. He loved to fish, hunt and most importantly, work in his garden. He was a lifelong member of Judson Baptist Church in Walker. He retired from Kaiser after 33 years of service. He will be missed far beyond words can say. Visitation was at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, on Tuesday. The service commenced on Wednesday in the chapel at the funeral home, led by the Rev. William Ray Johnson, the Rev. Phil Calvin and the Rev. Delmas Taylor. Burial was in Judson Baptist Church Cemetery, Walker, where Daddy will rest in eternal peace beside Mama and little Revis. He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, two sons and daughters-in- law, seven grandchildren, four step grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, an expected great-grandchild, two great-great-grandchildren, two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, and a special friend. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margueriete Sibley McDowell; son, Revis Ray McDowell; three brothers; two sisters; and parents, Alonzo and Nola Hull McDowell. A special thank you to daddy’s niece for all the help and love she has provided our family in this stressful time. Thank you to Hospice Care of Louisiana for your devotion to our father and grandfather and to the support of our family. We also want to thank Life Source Services and Harvest Manor Nursing Home for the constant care, kindness and understanding they have provided us during this trying and difficult time for our family. He has numerous nieces and nephews, too many to mention, but thank you for all your love and support. May God bless every one of his friends and family. The family would like to thank the Friendship Benefit Center for the food they so lovingly provided after the service.
