McIntyre, 85, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010. He was born March 9, 1925, in Springfield, to Alden and Bernadette McIntyre. Amos served in the Army during World War II. He lived in Baton Rouge and worked for Copolymer Rubber and Chemical Corp. for 23 years before enjoying early retirement on his Springfield farm in 1975. Funeral services for Amos B. McIntyre were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Geisler Funeral Home in Ponchatoula. Interment was in Carter Cemetery, Springfield. Relatives and friends were welcomed at Geisler Funeral Home, 1190 La. 51, Ponchatoula, Friday, and Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Amos is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter and son-in-law, three grandchildren, and a sister. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Ables and Mary Schillings; and brother, Kermit McIntyre. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name for The American War Veterans Home c/o American Legion Post 258, P.O. Box 252, Springfield, LA 70462.
