MOUCH, ETHEL O’NEAL 

Ethel O’Neal Mouch 96 of Brusly died 6:49 am Tuesday Jan 5, 2010.  She was 
born Oct 15, 1913 and was a native of Denham Springs.  At an early age she 
moved to Brusly and resided there for more than 85 years.  She was the oldest 
registered voter in the parish.  Ethel was a life long member of St. John the 
Baptist Catholic Church and a devout Catholic.  She and her husband were 
married in 1934 until his death after a lengthy illness in 1966.  At the age 
of 52 she learned to drive and went to work at Louisiana National Bank until 
her retirement in 1973.  She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters and 
spent many years as a religious education teacher.  Ethel lived in her home 
for more than 70 years, which was listed as a landmark home in the community, 
and after a brief stay at Lakewood Quarters Assisted Living Retirement 
Community she returned to her home where she longed to spend her final days.  

A celebration of her life was held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 
Activity Center on Thursday Jan 7, 2010 until a Mass of Christian Burial with 
interment in St. John the Baptist Church Cemetery.

Two daughters and sons-in-law, a son and his special girl friend, a former 
daughter-in-law, six grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as “MMM”, and 
six great-grandchildren survive her.

Preceding her in death was her husband of 32 years, Cyril George Mouch Sr.; 
her parents, Spurgeon and Ada Rouse O’Neal; her foster parents, Frank White 
Sr., and Minerva Hebert White; nine sisters; two brothers; and a great-
grandchild, Bailey Marie LaGlue.
