All who knew her in her 84 years were blessed and touched by her in so many ways. She was a loving mother to her eight children: sons, James Ellis O'Neal and wife Marcia Miller O'Neal, of Lyons, Colo., and Charles Wayne O'Neal Sr., and wife Carol Millette O'Neal, of Denham Springs; daughters, Marilyn Faye Head and husband Butch Head, of Denham Springs, Elaine Mae Beck and husband Joe Beet, of Pollock, Nancy Kay Scott and husband Larry Scott, of Baton Rouge, Joy Carol Rich, of Denham Springs, Mary Charlene Majumdar and husband Shyamal Majumdar, of Pasadena, Texas, and Penny Lynette Parker and husband David Parker, of Baton Rouge. Beloved grandmother to her 17 grandchildren, Devin O'Neal, Selena O'Neal, Tracy Head Cochran, Allen Head, Joe Beck, Yuri Beds, Chris Scott, Karen Scott Matthews, Chad Scott, Bonnie Rich Mergi, Tammy Rich Mulheam, Heather Popplin Kemeckel, Charles O'Neal Jr., Michele Strange, Caitlin O'Neal, Callie O'Neal and Daniel Parker; and nine great-grandchildren, Jordyn and David O'Neal, Kayla, Hayden and Raymie Cochran, Jack Kemeckel, Gage Head and Conner and Ava Scott. Survived by her devoted sister, Florence Wales McKay. Preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James Bertram O'Neal; her parents, Milton Ellis and Lillian McDaniel Wales; her brother, Milton A. Wales; and her sister, Sybil Wales Lockhart. She was born on April 1, 1924, in Baton Rouge, the middle daughter of Milton Ellis and Lillian McDaniel Wales. She lived in Baton Rouge most of her life until the death of her husband in 2003, when she went to live in Denham Springs with her daughter, Joy Rich. She received a bachelor of science in elementary education from LSU where she was one of the first women to play in the LSU marching band. She was a loving, devoted daughter, mother, grandmother and aunt and an angel to all who knew her. She was a long-time member of Florida Boulevard Baptist Church where she taught GA's, Sunday school, Training Union and VBS. She also sang in the choir for many years while she was able. In more recent years, she enjoyed attending Sunday school, WMU, BYS and Widows in Ministry. Her favorite hobbies included sewing, especially quilt making, in which she was a true artist, playing games, playing with her grandkids, traveling and working in her above-ground garden. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, July 6, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting continues at Florida Boulevard Baptist Church, 10915 Florida Blvd., on Monday from 10 a.m. until religious service at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Gerald Wheeler, the Rev. Devin O'Neal, and David Parker. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law, Devin O'Neal, Allen Head, Joe Beck, Yuri Beck, Chris Scott, Rob Mulhearn, Charles O'Neal Jr. and Daniel Parker.
