He was born March 13, 1930 in Baton Rouge. On Jan 15, 1952 he and his wife were married in Slaton Minn. He served his country in the US Air Force with the rank of staff sergeant and was a veteran of the Korean War. When he returned from the war they settled in Baker and raised their family. Visitation was held at Baker Funeral Home in Baker on Thursday Jan 7, 2010 and resumed on Friday Jan 8, 2010 until the religious services at 10 am with interment in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. A daughter, two sons and daughters-in-law, three grandchildren, and two great- grandchildren survive him. Preceding him in death were his parents, John E. and Fannie Wilson Pickering; his wife, Phyllis Ginn Pickering; four brothers, Dewey Pickering, Cade Pickering, Shirly Pickering, and Alvin Pickering; and four sisters, Nellie Pickering, M.L.
