She was a native of Athens, TX and a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Marine Corps. Visitation was held Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs and resumed on Monday, May 11, 2009 until the funeral services with interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery in Zachary. Her four daughters and a son-in-law, a brother and sister-in-law, five grandchildren, two grandsons-in-law, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Master Sgt. William Robert Pickett; daughter, Pamela Jean Kaufman; parents, Thomas U. and Jewell C. Welborn; three sisters, Lula Mae Tanner, Nina Ray Black and Leila Ann Smith; and four brothers, Billy, Joseph E., Douglas "Tex" and James Welborn.
