Pugh passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011, at the Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jackson. He was 87, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and a native of Jasper County, Miss. Visitation was at Baker Funeral Home on Sunday. Visitation continued at Trinity Methodist Protestant Church, 5825 Groom Road, Baker, on Monday until religious services, conducted by the Rev. Rick McAllister. Interment followed in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. He is survived by six sons, Dean and wife Sharon of Portland, Ore., Garry and wife Cynthia of Midland, Mich., Daryl of Walker, Byron of Baton Rouge, Galen and wife Tammy of Orlando, Fla., and Oren of Watson; three sisters, Frances and husband Ventress, and Reva and husband Don, all of Rome, Ga., and Patsy and husband Joseph of Atlanta; three brothers, Horace of Colorado, Chassel and wife Becky of Jackson, Miss., and Calvin and wife Rita of Vicksburg, Miss.; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Day Pugh; second wife, Marvine Brand Pugh; and grandson, Ethan Pugh. Jasper was a charter member of Trinity Methodist Protestant Church. He took life as it came and made the most of it. He remained loyal to God, his country, his church and his family. He left the world a better place than he found it, and remains an inspiration to us all. We believe both his earthly father and his Heavenly Father will say to him, “Well done.” In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Louisiana War Veterans Home, 4739 La. 10, Jackson, LA 70748.
