He was a retired millwright and chief of the Louisiana Band of Choctaw Indians. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, having served in the 82nd Airborne Glider Division in Central Europe. He received the Medal of Good Conduct and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of Foster Road Baptist Church and Millwright Local 102. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Visitation was held at Baker Funeral Home in Baker on Sunday, Nov 8, 2009 and Monday Nov 9, 2009 until religious services with interment in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Two daughters, and a son-in-law, a son, a sister, four brothers, 10 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren survive him. Preceding him in death was his wife, Mary Millie Rainwater; his parents, Harvey and Lela Cupit Rainwater; a son, Mike Rainwater; three brothers, Virgil, Winford, and Chester Rainwater; two sisters, Daisy Cambre and Birlie Rainwater; and a son-in-law, Dwight Odom.
