SANCHEZ, JO ANN VICKNAIR

Jo Ann Vicknair Sanchez, 73 of Gonzales died Sept 21, 2009 at the Carpenter 
House.  She was a native of French Settlement.  She was a member of Beta Sigma 
Phi sorority of which she pledged in 1977.  She had been a present member of 
Laureate Psi Chapter of Gonzales and held a Laureate degree in sorority.  The 
offices she held were president, treasurer, recording and responding 
secretary.  Awards she received included the Order of the Rose, Silver Circle, 
Woman of the Year and the Sweetheart Award.  She maintained perfect attendance 
in her sorority for 31 years, until last year when she became ill.  She 
enjoyed shopping, and traveling.  She was co-owner of Old Time Farm Supply 
Inc. in Gonzales.  She retired with 25 years of service from Tricon Steamship 
Agency Inc., Gonzales.

Visitation was held at St. Mark Catholic Church in Gonzales on Thursday Sept 
24, 2009 from 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am.  Entombment was in 
Hope Haven Mausoleum, Gonzales.

Her husband of 54 years, a son, a daughter, a sister, a brother, four sisters-
in-law and their spouses, her mother-in-law, and two brothers-in-law and their 
spouses survives her.

Preceding her in death were her mother, Annez “Neet” Murphy Arnold; her 
father, Norman A. Vicknair;  her  stepfather, Alton “Bay” Schexnaider; a 
brother, Jerome Vicknair; and father-in-law, Clarence J. Sanchez.
