The Rev. Ronald Edward Schaerer, 74, of Denham Springs, died Friday, Aug. 6, 
2010, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. He was born Sept. 19, 
1935, in Monteagle, Tenn., son of the late Clarence and Quinnie Lappin 
Schaerer. Rev. Schaerer accepted the call to preach at age 16 and continued to 
minister until his death. He started his first church in Tuscaloosa, Ala., at 
age 19. He has been the pastor of Bible missionary churches through the years 
in Little Rock, Ark., Crossville, Tenn., Pleasant Grove, Ala., Ponchatoula, 
Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Denham Springs. 

Friends were received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond on 
Monday and at the funeral home chapel Tuesday until services, with the Rev. 
Spencer Johnson, the Rev. Bill Whited and the Rev. Melvin Mitchell 
officiating. Interment followed in the Sand Hill Cemetery in Ponchatoula. 

Surviving are his wife, two sons and daughters-in-law, daughter and son-in-
law, two stepsons and stepdaughter-in-law, 4 step-daughters and two stepsons-
in-law, 18 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a sister, and numerous 
nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by first wife, Lois Davis Schaerer; brothers, 
Clarence and Walter Schaerer; and sister, Cecilia Killingsworth. 

The Rev. Schaerer was dearly loved by his family and all who knew him. 

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the 
faith:” 2 Timothy 4:7.
