He was the retired owner and CEO of Oak Grove Smokehouse in Prairieville from 1972 until 2005. He was a graduate of Dutchtown High School Class of 1958 and of Southeastern Louisiana University Class of 1964 and later went on to earn his Doctorate in Food Nutrition from LSU. Up into his recent illness, he could be seen riding his four wheeler “mode of operada” cooking at Oak Grove Smokehouse and sitting at his “barn” drinking with his many friends. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8342. Visitation was held at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales on Tuesday, Dec 29, 2009 and resumed on Wednesday until Mass of Christian Burial at St, John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville. His loving wife of 48 years, a daughter, a son and daughter-in-law, a sister, a brother, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren survives him. Preceding him in death was his parents, Robert E. Schexnailder Jr., and Grace Brown Schexnailder; and his mother- and father-in-law, Dorothy B. Kyle and Sammie L.
