She had lived in French Settlement for 65 years and was an accomplished cook and ended her career as a professional chef. She was a star basketball player at French Settlement High School when they won the state championship in 1954, 55, and 56. She later pursued further education at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. Visitation was held at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Bayou Barber on Tuesday, Dec 1, 2009 with graveside services in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. a daughter; three sons and two daughters-in-law, four granddaughters, a grandson and two step grandsons, and her handfed spoiled lap dog Rudy survive Miss Dot. Preceding her in death was her parents, a sister, Jewel Demars Hunt; and two brothers, Mike Demars and Elmo Demars. Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales provided arrangements.
