SHILLING, KENT DOUGLAS

Kent Douglas Shilling 40 of Danville KY died Monday, Feb 22, 2010 as the 
result of a plane crash.  He was a native of Bryan TX and a former resident of 
Watson, where he was a 1987 graduate of Live Oak High School.  He went on to 
attend LSU from 1987 to 1989 and entered the US Navy in March 1990 and served 
and defended his country in Portugal and Mayport FL.  He completed his navel 
duty in March 1996.  In 1998 he enlisted in the Louisiana National Guard, then 
enrolled in Louisiana Tech University, majoring in aviation.  From June 2002 
to March 2003, he served with the National Guard in Afghanistan, and then 
returned to complete his bachelor’s degree at Louisiana Tech in aviation in 
2004.  He enrolled in the graduate program at Central Missouri State 
University where he earned a master’s degree in aviation management and went 
to Danville in 2006 as a corporate pilot then began his own business, Douglas 
Aviation as a full time flight instructor.  On the day of his death he was 
offered a leadership role in a new aviation program being instituted at a 
private university in Kentucky.

 Visitation was held at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs on Sunday, Mar 7, 
2010 and resumed on Monday, Mar 8, 2010 until the funeral service with 
interment in Amite Baptist Church Cemetery.

His mother, his father and stepmother, a sister and brother-in-law, a brother, 
nieces and nephews and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins survive him.

Preceding him in death were his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Memorial donations were requested made to Angel Flight, Mid-Atlantic
