He was 99 and a native of Walker. He was a farmer and an outdoorsman. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I. On Nov. 11, 1993, he was recognized at the 75th Anniversary Commemorative Ceremony at the USS Kidd. Visiting at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday, and 9 a.m. until religious services at 11:30 a.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Ernest Chandler and the Rev. Joe Starns. Burial in Salem Cemetery, Walker. Survived by wife of 73 years, Myrtle Jones Sibley, Walker; a daughter and son-in-law, Margie Sibley Coxe and John Erwin Coxe Sr., Walker; a sister, Lizzie Sibley Spillman, Denham Springs; three grandchildren and a grandson-in-law, Mary Alice Coxe Buzzell, Lynn Coxe Graham and Glen T. Graham, all of Baton Rouge and John E. Coxe Jr., Walker; and 10 great grandchildren, Joanna Lynn Jackson, John Ross, Analyn Elizabeth and George Taylor Buzzell, Bryce Douglas and Brooke Elizabeth Beals, Matthew Franklin, John Erwin III, James Redick and Jordan Chaney Coxe. Preceded in death by parents, Redick Monroe and Louiza Sullivan Sibley; nine brother, Jessie, Henry, Melvin, Calvin, Berlin, Walter, Ellis, Herbert and Doc Sibley. Pallbearers will be Mitchell Roshto, Larry Sibley, Humbert Jones, Harold “Bo” Sibley, Greg Jones and Gerald Sibley. He served as a Deacon at Salem Baptist Church, Walker. Memorial donations may be made to Salem Baptist Church Building Fund 38610 Weiss Road, Walker 70785.
