SIMPSON, VALMON GROVER

Valmon Grover Simpson, 83 of Colyell passed away peacefully on Thursday, Aug 
6, 2009 at 7:45 am.

Mr. Simpson was a US Navy veteran, having served in the invasion of Iwo Jima 
and Okinawa.  On Iwo Jima he was honored to witness the rising of the American 
flag.  He was a member of Colyell Baptist Church, a mason for 55 years, a 
member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.  He was retired and a member of 
Operators Local 406.

Visitation was held at Colyell Baptist Church, Colyell with internment in 
Colyell Cemetery.

He is survived by:  two daughters and two sons-in-law; five grandchildren; 
three great-grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law.

His wife of 56 years, Mary Lewis Simpson; his parents, Grover and Lillie 
Simpson; two brothers, Berlin and Persie Simpson; and a sister, Pearl Miller
