Mary Sistrunk 
 
Mary Belle Russell Sistrunk, 76, of Baton Rouge, passed away Monday, March 14, 
2011, at Ochsner Medical Center-Baton Rouge. She was a native of Monticello, 
Miss., Lawrence County. Mary was very proud of her accomplishment of owning 
her own beauty shop in Petal, Miss. Mary was most proud of her family and 
worked very hard to care for them. She was the true definition of a Christian 
lady and was very sure to protect that. A harsh word was never said about 
Mary. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Those who knew 
her will miss her dearly. 

Visitation was at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, on Saturday from 9:30 
a.m. until service at noon, officiated by the Rev. Ernest Whittington and the 
Rev. Alton Foster. Burial was in Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, two daughters and a son-in-
law, a son, two grandsons and a granddaughter-in-law, a brother and sister-in-
law, of South Carolina; very special brother-in-law, as well as numerous 
nieces, nephews and other relatives. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sen. Benson M. Russell Sr. and 
Fannie Lee Surrett Russell; sister, Bobbie Harris and husband C. Craig Harris; 
and a very special aunt, Mary Cannon. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Enterprise Baptist Church 
Building fund, Liberty, Miss., or the charity of your choice
