SPEARS, LYNNE DEAN

“When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me I want no rites 
in a gloom-filled room.  Why cry for a soul set free?  Miss me a little – but 
not too long with your head bowed low, remember the love we once shared.  Miss 
me – but let me go; for this is a journey that we must all take and each must 
go alone.  It’s all part of the Master’s plan… a step on the road to home.  
When you are lonely and sick of heart go to friends we know and bury your 
sorrow in doing deeds.  Miss me – but let me go!”

Lynne Dean Spears 81 of Baton Rouge died Saturday, Feb 20, 2010.  She was born 
on July 17, 1928 in McComb MS and was reared in Kentwood.  She graduated from 
Southeastern Louisiana University, taught school for a short time in Tallulah 
and was retired from Ethyl Corp with 37 years of service.  She loved music, 
visiting with friends and family, going on vacation, and life in general.  She 
loved her cherished pets that kept her company.

Visitation was held at Broadmoor United Methodist Church on Friday, Feb 26, 
2010 from 10 a.m. until the memorial service at noon.

Her nieces and nephews who adored her, 12 great-nieces and great-nephews, a 
great-niece-in-law, and nephew-dog, Puck, survives her.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Leon C. and Virginia D. Broyles 
Spears; a sister, Bettye Sue Greene; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, 
John H. Spears, Leon C. Jr. and Dorothy Land Spears.
