Eugene N. Strong 89 of Hillsdale died at 1:55 pm Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at St. Helena Parish Hospital in Greensburg. He was a native of Roseland, a veteran of the US Navy having served in World War II, and a member of Kedron Baptist Church. Visitation was held at Kedron Baptist Church in Amite on Thursday, May 14, 2009 until the religious services with interment in Kedron Cemetery in Amite. Two daughters and a son-in-law, two sons and daughters-in-law, a sister, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, survive him. Preceding him in death was his wife, Mable Sharkey Strong; a daughter, Pam Easley; two infant sons, Claude Earl Strong and David Emmitt Strong; two grandsons, Scott Holcombe and Timothy Easley; his parents, James Nelson Strong and Carrie Jackson Strong; a brother, John H. Strong; and two sisters, Laura S. Durnin and Margaret S. Marquette. McKneely Funeral Home in Amite, provided arrangements.
