He made his own personalized fishing bait to use whether he was fishing with friends in a bass tournament or just fishing by himself. An exact description of him would be, "Sonny was his name but fishing was his game." Subsequent to graduating in 1958 from St. Paul Catholic School and attending Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Sonny became owner of Sziszak's Supermarket in Albany after working alongside his parents in their family business for many years. Local people knew Sonny as the best "butcher" around. Ultimately closing Sziszak's Supermarket, Sonny began working with Hammond Development Center before retiring. He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church in Albany. A lifelong resident of Albany, Sonny passed away at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond, Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at age 68. He was the only son of the late Irene Marie Meszaros and Andrew Joseph Sziszak. His wife of 48 years, survives him along with two sons, and a grandson, his devoted sister and brother-in-law, two nephews, four nieces, and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. Also preceding him in death was his uncle, Paul Sziszak. Relatives and friends of the family were invited to attend the celebration Mass at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Albany on Saturday at 11 a.m. Visitation was at the chapel of Brandon G.
