He was a native of Hammond and was a US Marines veteran, who received three Purple Heart medals, a Bronze Star Medal, Silver Star Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Naval Unit Citation and the Presidential Unit Citation for his service. Visitation was held at First United Pentecostal Church in Denham Springs on Monday, March 29 and resumed on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 until the service conducted by the Rev. Ray Johnson Sr., with interment in Evergreen Memorial Park in Denham Springs. His wife, three daughters, two sons, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two brothers survive him. Preceding him in death were his parents, Dan and Solena Taylor; and a sister, Carolyn Jean Taylor. Renaissance Funeral Service of Gonzales provided arrangements.
