He was employed with ExxonMobil Refinery for 36 years and retired in 1983. He proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was a longtime member of Lanier Baptist Church. Visitation was at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Monday and Tuesday until funeral service, conducted by the Rev. T.W. Terral, the Rev. Mike Ferguson and Chaplain Barry Lagg. Burial was in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, three sons and daughters-in-law, eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a brother, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Cambre Teekel; parents, John and Janie Collier Teekel; and sisters, Margie Browning and Hazel Broussard.
