He was a retired mechanist having worked with Crown Zellerbach and Dresser- Rand in Baton Rouge. He was a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church and a US Air Force Veteran having served in the Vietnam War. He was also a member of Pine Masonic Lodge 264. Visitation was held at Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton on Wednesday Jan 13, 2010 with a Masonic Service and Resumed on Thursday Jan 14, 2010 until the funeral service with interment in Central Church Cemetery. His wife, four sons and daughters-in-law, 10 grandchildren, a great- grandchild, a brother, and three sisters survive him. Preceding him in death were his parents, Seamon and Betty Sumrall Thomas; two brothers, Luke Sumrall and Shelby Thomas; a sister, Ada Thomas Provost Jenkins; and a great-nephew, Levi Thomas.
