He was a US Air Force veteran and a native of Pineville. He was an avid LSU fan and a member of Cortana Baptist Church where he ministered with his guitar and his music. He also volunteered at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Center’s Transitional Unit where he was known as Floyd the Funnel Man. Visitation was held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East in Baton Rouge on Wednesday, Dec 30, 2009 and resumed on Thursday Dec 31, 2009 until the funeral service. A Graveside service was held at Craig Cemetery in Pineville, Kolin near Pineville. His loving wife of 26 years, three daughters and two sons-in-law, a son and daughter-in-law, a twin brother, a brother, and nine grandchildren survives him. Preceding him in death were his parents Benjamin and Florence Ussery; and a sister, Virgie Fossett.
