He was a native of New Orleans and a US Navy veteran having served during World War II, and in the US Marines during the Korean War. Visitation was held at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 with a graveside service held Wednesday, March 31, 2010 in Salem Cemetery in Walker. Two daughters and sons-in-law, a son and daughter-in-law, two grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren survive him. Preceding him in death was his wife, Lavelle Varnado; a son, Ronald Varnado; and his parents, Ike and Willie Agnes Varnado.
