He was a retired BREC Golf Pro, and a veteran of the US Army having served in World War II. Mr. Zachariah graduated from LSU and a former member of the golf team, a lifetime member of the PGA and a member of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. After his retirement from BREC, he was assistant golf pro at Fairwood County Club for 20 years where he was awarded Honorary Lifetime Membership for his years of service. Visitation was held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, Baton Rouge with burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. A daughter and son-in-law; two grandsons; a sister; a brother; and a great- granddaughter survive him. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Schoot Zachariah; infant daughter, Carol Zachariah; his parents, Joseph and Mamie Zachariah; two brothers, Joseph and Eddie Zachariah; and two sisters; Amelia Schexnayder and Agnes Seal.
