Reverend Arthur Hinson was born in Holden, Louisiana, on November 11, 1906. He served in Judson Baptist Church, Livingston Parish. He died in Waycross, Georgia, on July 9, 1990. He was the son of the late Hiram P. Hinson and Ella Bossena Hinson of Louisiana. He received a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. In 1937 he met and wed Margaret Stewart of Milan, Georgia. After their marriage, they moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where Dr. Hinson received his Doctorate in Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Their only child, Arthur Lee Hinson, was born in Fort Worth in 1939. During World War II, Mrs. Hinson and her son returned to Milan, Georgia, to live with her parents while Dr. Hinson served as chaplain in the European Theather. After the war, the family moved to Dallas, Georgia, where Dr. Hinson became pastor of the First Baptist Church. Following residences in Augusta, Georgia, Anchorage, Alaska, and Moorehead, Mississippi, the family moved back to Georgia, where they settled in Tucker in 1953. Dr. Hinson began work with the Georgia Baptist Convention, where he was assistant executive secretary from 1953 to 1969. Dr. Hinson was the first associational missionary of the Augusta Association and he was also a retired Army Reserve lieutenant colonel. The family became active in the First Baptist Church of Tucker, Georgia, in 1953, and Dr. Hinson and his wife remained members of that church until their deaths in 1990 and 2001 respectively. In 1988 Dr. Hinson and his wife moved to Baptist Village in Waycross, Georgia, where Dr. Hinson died in 1990. Funeral services were held in Milan Baptist Church in Milan, Georgia, and the Reverend Kirkland Neal, one of Dr. Hinson's relatives, officiated the service.
