Marion Monroe Voyles Photo can be seen at: http://www.usgwarchives.net/la/livingston/photos/voyles1136gph.jpg Image file size: 85.1 Kb Rev. Mr. Voyles was born Dec. 17, 1860, at Cedar Town, Georgia. He moved to New Orleans in 1897. He worked for the LA Southern Railway Co. He also worked in the Whosoever Will Rescue Mission under the auspices of the First Baptist Church of New Orleans, and founded the first Gospel Wagon under Baptist control. He was ordained to the Baptist ministry in 1905, when he was 45 years old. He became pastor of Zoar Baptist Church in 1912 and continued there until his death in 1916. Although he entered the ministry late, and his education was incomplete, his sincerity and zeal made him a wonderful worker for God during his few years of service. He baptized over 500 people. He died July 29, 1916 and is buried in Zoar’s cemetery.
